Police hunt down motorcycle ‘thief’

BACOLOD City – Police officers were searching for a man accused of stealing a neighbor’s motorcycle.

Carlo Claro of Barangay Castellano, Calatrava, Negros Occidental allegedly pawned the motorcycle to a resident of San Carlos City who later returned the vehicle to the owner.

Jose Marlaw Sanchez, 46, reported to the police that Claro stole his Honda XR 125 motorcycle at 10 a.m. on Dec. 13.

According to Sanchez, Claro went to their residence and asked if he could borrow the motorcycle. Sanchez refused.

When he went back inside their house, Claro boarded the motorcycle and sped toward San Carlos City, Sanchez claimed.

Sanchez managed to track down the stolen motorcycle in Barangay 1, San Carlos City at 10:45 a.m. on Dec. 16.

Sanchez discovered that Claro pawned the motorcycle to 62-year-old Carlito Gumo.

Gumo returned the motorcycle to Sanchez after the latter showed him documents proving his ownership of the vehicle.

Officers from the Calatrava police station were hunting Claro down./PN
