BACOLOD City – Police Corporal Edward Peña, 36, a resident of Barangay Salvacion, Murcia, Negros Occidental, and a member of the Murcia PNP, lost his life in a road accident.
Peña had just finished his duty and was on his way home when the incident occurred, according to Captain Rodney Sarona, deputy chief of police in Murcia.
The accident took place on the national road along Hda. Bernabe in the town’s Barangay Salvacion on Monday afternoon, Feb. 26.
Sarona added that Peña attempted to overtake a tricycle driven by Rizzy Tanaleon, 31, with four passengers on board.
However, due to an unexpected maneuver by the tricycle, Peña lost control of his motorcycle.
Peña, who was not wearing a helmet, was immediately rushed to the hospital but was declared dead on arrival./PN
