BACOLOD City – In a crackdown against criminal activity, police authorities from EB Magalona town in Negros Occidental conducted a targeted operation on Saturday, which yielded suspected drugs and firearms with ammunition.
The execution of two search warrants in Barangay Gahit at approximately 4:45 a.m. on April 13 resulted in the apprehension of alias “Joel,” 47, and alias “Russel,” 25.
Law enforcement also seized approximately 90 grams of suspected shabu, with an estimated street value of P612,000, as well as caliber .45 and .38 firearms.
Additionally, authorities confiscated five live cartridges of caliber .45 and six live cartridges of caliber .38 during the search.
“Joel” was identified as a high-value target and the main subject of the operation, while “Russel” was categorized as a street-level individual. They will face drug-related charges and for violations of Republic Act 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.
The successful execution of the search warrants was carried out by personnel from the EB Magalona Municipal Police Station, the 1st Negros Occidental Provincial Mobile Force Company, and the 605th Company of the Regional Mobile Force Battalion 6.
The warrants were issued by Hon. Leonardo B. Facultad Jr., Presiding Judge of Regional Trial Court 6, Branch 69 in Silay City, Negros Occidental, dated April 13, 2024.
Brigadier General Jack L. Wanky, director of the Police Regional Office 6, commended the involved units.
“Apprehending these lawbreakers is crucial for the safety and security of our community. Let us remain united and vigilant in our collective fight against criminal activity,” he said./PN
