ILOILO City – Police provincial offices in Western Visayas on Saturday simultaneously disposed illegal firecrackers confiscated during the holidays.
In this city, the disposal was held at the Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) compound and witnessed by police officials headed by Police Colonel Gilbert Gorero, chief of the Regional Operations Division of the Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6), barangay officials, and the media.
The ICPO was able to dispose of 40 illegal boga, kwitis (159), camara (268), stick fish (270), and tied stick fish (1,000), with a total value of P9,141.
In the province of Guimaras, Police Provincial Office director Colonel Richard Baluis led the disposal of 634 seized firecrackers and boga held at the Jordan Municipal Police Station on the same day.
“Dito naton makita na napaka-effective ng kampanya natin para mabawasan ang injuries na dulot nitong boga,” said Baluis in an interview.
Baluis added that “Ligtas Paskuhan 2022” was successful since Guimaras recorded only three cases of firecracker-related injuries.
In Capiz, the activity was headed by Capiz Provincial Police Office officer-in-charge director Colonel Jerome Afuyog Jr.
The destruction of confiscated illegal firecrackers was held at the covered gym of Camp Apil in Barangay Lanot, Roxas City.
Other respective police provincial offices in other provinces such as Iloilo, Antique, Aklan, and Negros Occidental also held the same activity, which was in relation to “Ligtas Paskuhan 2022
