SAN JOSE, Antique – Tourists who will spend the December holidays in this capital town are secure, the chief of police said.
Chief Inspector Norby Escobar disclosed their security plan is already in place as the Christmas season nears.
“I am assuring tourists they would be safe here,” said Escobar.
Aside from this year’s holiday season, the San Jose police are also preparing for the Western Visayas Regional Athletic Association Meet in February 2017 and the Palarong Pambansa by April.
Escobar stressed their security plan is the standard used during the 2015 Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Summit in Iloilo City.
It involves coordination with the Bureau of Fire Protection, Bureau of Jail Management and Penology, and the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council, among other agencies.
The same security plan averted untoward incidents during the Balikatan exercises in Antique and other parts of Panay Island in April, said Escobar.
During the military drills, two ships the national government acquired from Australia docked at the town’s shores. (PNA)
