LOILO City – Investigators of the Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) face a blank wall on the murder of a female Indian money lender in Barangay Our Lady of Fatima, Jaro district.
Even the assassin’s motive remains undetermined.
“We are (still) on the stage of gathering all information and pieces of evidence,” said Senior Superintendent Remus Zacharias Canieso, city police director.
The 34-year-old Rupinder Kaur Chahal of L.J. Ledesma Subdivision, Barangay Buhang, Jaro died of four gunshot wounds on Tuesday afternoon.
“We still have to determine if there was a mastermind behind the killing,” said Canieso.
Two angles are being pursued, he revealed. The crime could be business-related or personal.
The investigator of the Jaro police station, Police Officer 2 Saturnino Dela Cruz, believed the gunman was a professional killer.
“Ginsulod niya gid kag gintiro. Tapos naggwa siya nga daw wala lang natabo,” he said.
The shooting happened at a car audio and accessories shop.
Canieso deployed more policemen to the Jaro police station yesterday. They would help investigate the killing.
From what the investigators have gathered so far, Canieso said, it appeared that the killing was full of hatred.
He cited the times the killer pumped bullets to the victim – four times – to make sure she would be killed.
After the shooting, the gunman walked casually to a waiting companion with a motorcycle a few meters away from the car shop. They fled toward the public plaza of Jaro.
According to witnesses, the gunman was wearing a dark cap, dark-skinned and around 5 feet and 8 inches tall./PN
