MANILA – Motolite Power Builders overhauled a two-set deficit to score a 25-27, 15-25, 25-18, 25-17, 18-16 win over Choco Mucho Flying Titans in the 2019 Premier Volleyball League Open Conference at the San Juan Arena.
Maria Lina Molde tallied triple-double of 22 points (19 attacks and three blocks), 18 excellent digs and 10 excellent receptions on Sunday night while Diana Carlos added 21 markers for the Power Builders (6-2).
Bernadeth Flora also showed her way with near triple-double of 15 points, 20 excellent digs and eight excellent receptions as Iris Tolenada fanned out 46 excellent sets for Motolite.
“I believe we fought well. A win is a win. We had a plan, at some point it worked while at some point it didn’t work. But overall we fought and that’s the only thing I can say about the game,” said Power Builders head coach Godfrey Okumu.
After surrendering the first two sets to the Flying Titans, the Power Builders came alive in the third and fourth canto behind the exploits of Molde, Carlos and Flora to set up a fifth set.
In the decider, the Flying Titans surged to a 13-10 edge but the Power Builders managed to force a deadlock at 16-all before Molde shattered the deadlock and Flora nailing the game-winner.
Kat Tolentino erupted for a game-high 33 points built on 31 attacks to go along with 21 excellent digs, while Ilongga Shannen Palec added nine markers as the Power Hitters dropped to 2-6.
Meanwhile, Nicole Tiamzon waxed hot offensively as the BanKo Perlas Lady Spikers cruised to a 25-16, 25-12, 16-25, 25-20 victory over Bali Pure Water Defenders. The former University of the Philippines Lady Maroon had 22 points for the winning team./PN
