MANILA – PacificTown Army Lady Troopers and BanKo Perlas Lady Spikers completed the semifinals casts of the Premier Volleyball League Season 3 Reinforced Conference following the closure of elimination round over the weekend at the San Juan Arena.
The Lady Troopers solidified its hold on the third spot behind Petro Gazz Angels and Creamline Cool Smashers after an emphatic 25-18, 25-14, 25-20 victory over the Lady Spikers.
Ukrainian Lena Lymareva-Flink tallied 29 points off 23 attacks and six aces, while Jenelle Jordan chipped in 11 markers for the Lady Troopers, which ended the eliminations at 5-5.
Honey Royse Tubino posted seven points while Ilongga Jovelyn Gonzaga and Ging Balse-Pabayo combined for eight for the Lady Troopers, which needed only 68 minutes to seal the victory.
“This is our A game,” said Lady Troopers head coach Emilio Reyes. “Almost fluid ‘yung galaw, maganda ‘yung service at first ball. May mga lapses pero nakakaatake ‘yung [spikers] namin, especially Lena.”
The Lady Spikers, however, was able to solidify its semifinals seat as the top-seed Angels disposes Motolite in the other game, 25-19, 25-15, 25-15. American Janisa Johnson scored 15 points, while Cuban Wilma Salas posted 14 markers.
Defending champion Cool Smashers built great momentum heading into the semifinals after closing the elimination round with a nine-game winning streak beating winless BaliPure Water Defenders, 25-19, 25-15, 25-18.
Thai import Kuttika Kaewpin scored 14 points, all coming off attacks, and added six excellent receptions for the Cool Smashers, which had a chance to use all of its players except for setter Jia Morado./PN
