ILOILO City – Due to several factors, prices of sardines are expected to increase, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) disclosed.

According to ‎Senior Trade and Industry Development Specialist Judith Degala, the hike can be attributed to the continuous weakening of peso.

Degala also added that prices of sardines are forecasted to increase because of the petition of its tin manufacturers.

The tin, which is one of the components in sardine packaging, is being imported from the United States, she said.

On the other hand, the DTI said prices of noodles, bread and soap will remain the same.

Furthermore, the agency reminds business establishments and owners to follow the suggested retail prices of commodities./PN
