BACOLOD City – A private land developer has donated a 1,986-square-meter parcel of land to this city, which will serve as the future site of essential emergency facilities.
The facilities include the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) sub-station, Police Station 3, and Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (DRRM) Command Center.
According to Atty. Marty Go, secretary-to-the-mayor, the property is located within the new Rockwell Land Corporation development along Buri Road, Barangay Mandalagan.
He added that the project was initiated by Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez, with funding support from Sen. Francis Tolentino, who allocated a P10-million budget in 2024.
The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has been tasked to lead the construction while the City Engineer’s Office (CEO) is working in close coordination with DPWH to ensure that the facility’s design complements the overall master plan and aesthetics of the development.
“The necessary documentation is currently being processed to formalize the land donation and allow construction work to officially begin,” Go said./PN
