ILOILO City – Different units under the Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) seized 1.945 kilos of alleged shabu valued at P13,226,000 during the week-long law enforcement operation dubbed “Birada Semana” from May 6 to 12.
PRO-6 data also showed that 98 drug suspects were arrested.
One of the biggest confiscations was made in San Dionisio, Iloilo.
Approximately P1.7 million worth of suspected shabu was seized from drug suspects “Bryan” and “John” in Barangay Santol on May 11.
Joint operatives of the San Dionisio Municipal Police Station, Iloilo Police Provincial Office’s Drug Enforcement Unit and Iloilo Maritime Police carried out the operation.
Police Brigadier General Jack Wanky, director of PRO-6, said the successful antidrug operations mark a substantial blow against the illegal drug trade in the region.
Moreover, in the campaign against loose firearms, 23 individuals were arrested while 51 firearms and nine explosives were either recovered or surrendered.
Wanky said these arrests and confiscations contribute to the ongoing efforts of the PRO-6 to curb the proliferation of illegal weapons, ensuring the safety and security of communities./PN
