ILOILO City – Western Visayas’ top cop has yet to receive reports of the involvement in illegal drugs of police officers in the region.
“As of now, wala tayong holdings ng mga pulis involved in illegal drugs, but we have to monitor to know if there are really police who are engaged in illegal drugs,” Police Brigadier General Jack Wanky, director of Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6), said in a press conference yesterday.
Despite this, Wanky said he will be monitoring his men to make sure there are no cops engaging in drugs.
Based on PRO-6 latest data from February 15 to May 15 this year, a total of P121,886,000 worth of shabu weighing 17,924 grams were seized across the region.
To recall, former PRO-6 director Major General Leo Francisco revealed that there were five police officers in the region who were under monitoring for alleged involvement in illegal drugs.
These included a Police Commissioned Officer (PCO) and four Police Non-Commissioned Officers (PNCOs)./PN
