ILOILO City – The new Regional Drug Enforcement Unit (RDEU) chief of the Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) is Lieutenant Colonel Antonio Benitez Jr.
He vowed to run after high-value drug traffickers.
Benitez formally assumed his post yesterday. He replaced Lieutenant Colonel Mark Anthony Darroca who has a new assignment – chief of police of Silay City in Negros Occidental.
Benitez will have a conference with all chiefs of city and provincial drug enforcement units. He wants an updated information on drug personalities, drug groups and the region’s drug trafficking situation.
“Para ma-update naton ang listahan kag maka-start sang surveillance and operations. As much as possible we have to run after high-value drug pushers,” Benitez said.
He will focus more in Bacolod City and Negros Occidental. Most drug pushers arrested in Iloilo pointed to these two areas as the sources of their drug supply.
“We need the cooperation of the community. Give us information. Daku mabulig sang publiko sa aton kampanya batok sa droga,” Benitez added.
He also warned policemen who are into drugs either as user, pusher protector./PN
