PRO-6 mobilizes 300 cops for search, rescue op in N. Iloilo

ILOILO City – The Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) deployed 300 personnel for search and rescue operations in northern Iloilo province where Tropical Depression “Agaton” unleashed torrential rains.

It also deployed police patrol vehicles, truck ropes, axes, chainsaws and other needed equipment.

“We sent additional men to help local police stations and rescue groups in rescuing people from rising floodwaters,” said Police Lieutenant Colonel Arnel Solis, PRO-6 spokesperson.

Police Brigadier General Flynn Dongbo, Western Visayas police director, told his men to be careful.

“Maraming salamat sa inyong pagiging alerto at agarang pagtulong sa mga nasalanta nating mga kababayan. Ang inyong mabilis na tugon sa dikta ng sitwsayon ay napakahalaga,” said Dongbo.

He cited the good coordination between the police, local government units and other government agencies.

“We assure the general public that all police units and personnel are on standby and ready to provide support to those who need rescuing and assistance,” said Dongbo.

Meanwhile, the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) sent rubber boats and other equipment to help residents severely affected by floods in Iloilo and Roxas City in Capiz.

Commodore Ed Ybañez, the Coast Guard district commander in Western Visayas, said rescue operations were ongoing in Iloilo and Capiz.

Ybañez said he already deployed seven deployable response group (DRG) teams from the district to assist affected families./PN
