ILOILO City – The Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) confiscated over P18 million worth of illegal drugs and arrested 76 suspects during a two-week crackdown across Western Visayas.
Records from PRO-6 showed that from August 1 to 15, various police units conducted 63 anti-illegal drug operations. The drive yielded 2.66 kilograms of suspected shabu valued at P18 million, alongside 24 grams of marijuana worth an estimated P1,680.
Among the 76 arrested personalities, 24 were classified as high-value individuals (HVIs) and 52 as street-level individuals (SLIs).
The Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO) logged the highest operational output, seizing P10.7 million worth of illegal drugs in 17 operations. The Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) followed with P2.8 million across 27 operations, while the Regional Drug Enforcement Unit 6 (RDEU-6) confiscated P2.5 million.
PRO-6 director Police Brigadier General Randulf Tuaño commended the operating units for maintaining a sharp focus on illegal drugs through intelligence-driven and targeted operations.
“Ang pagkakasamsam ng mahigit 2.66 kilos ng hinihinalang shabu sa loob lamang ng 15 araw ay bunga ng masusing intelligence gathering at koordinasyon ng ating mga yunit. Hindi lamang natin tinutugis ang mga nagbebenta sa lansangan; tinutukoy din natin ang mga nasa likod ng kanilang operasyon at distribution networks,” Tuaño said.
He also challenged lower-performing police stations to double their efforts and strengthen their barangay intelligence networks to apprehend remaining drug personalities within their jurisdictions./PN
