ILOILO City – The Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) is intensifying its campaign against illegal drugs, this time focusing on drug syndicates and main suppliers.
Brigadier General Leo Francisco, PRO-6 director, said cops will focus on the sources of illegal drugs.
“We have to focus sa mga drug suppliers at dapat ma-identify natin sila para ma-stop natin ang network nila. We arrested drug couriers and seized huge volume of illegal drugs pero patuloy pa rin ang pag-proliferate so this time we have to know the sources,” said Francisco.
Francisco, in collaboration with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency 6 (PDEA-6), directed all unit commanders and police chiefs to work together and strengthen the Barangay Intelligence Network (BIN).
Based on PRO-6 records from January to August of this year, 30,000 grams of shabu and 3,900 grams of marijuana were confiscated, with a total value of P200 million, while 1,365 drug personalities were arrested.
Confiscations in Negros Occidental had the biggest value at P70 million, followed by those of the Regional Drug Enforcement Unit (RDEU) at P62 million, and then those from Bacolod City at P47 million.
Seizures from other areas had the following values:
* Iloilo City – P14 million
* Iloilo province – P8 million
* Capiz – P5 million
* Guimaras – P488,000
* Antique – P56,000
* Aklan – P31,500.
“While identifying the main sources, we have to continue conducting drug operations especially against high-value individuals,” Francisco added./PN
