PRO-6 vows full support to PNP chief Gamboa

ILOILO City – The Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) vowed to support the leadership of Lieutenant General Archie Francisco Gamboa as the new chief of the Philippine National Police.

“We will fully support his programs in winning back the trust and confidence of the people by following the rule of law and with utmost respect for human rights,” says PRO-6 spokesperson Police Lieutenant Colonel Joem Malong.

Gamboa’s appointment came after President Rodrigo Duterte made a surprise announcement in a speech in Davao City Friday night.

Duterte said Gamboa has showed him sincerity, and that they will have a “long, long talk” soon, together with Interior Secretary Año.

Malong said that the PRO-6 remains committed on the direction set by Gamboa for the PNP on the intensified campaign against criminality, illegal drugs, internal cleansing, and corruption.

Gamboa during his last visit in PRO-6, said that he will be giving attention against illegal drugs for arresting high-value targets, corruption, illegal gambling and wanted persons.

He wants to recruit more police personnel to have more force and to replace those who retired and dismissed from service.

Gamboa further warned police officers to work harder and stay away from illegal activities and for committing crimes that could ruin the image of the PNP.

Gamboa was chosen over two other police officials, Police Lieutenant General Camilo Prancratius Cascolan and Police Major General Guillermo Eleazar.

Cascolan, whose wife is a native of Sta. Barbara town in Iloilo has been assigned in Region 6 before he was promoted and assigned in Camp Crame./PN
