BACOLOD City — The Police Regional Office–Negros Island Region (PRO-NIR) has issued safety and security reminders as part of its intensified peace and order measures for the Yuletide season, a period marked by increased travel, social gatherings, and commercial activity.
PRO-NIR urged residents and visitors to remain vigilant and observe basic safety precautions to ensure a safe and peaceful celebration of Christmas and the New Year.
The public was advised to secure homes and valuables, stay alert in crowded areas such as shopping malls, public markets, churches, and transport terminals, and strictly comply with traffic laws, particularly the ban on drunk driving.
Police also reminded the public to adhere to local ordinances regulating firecrackers and pyrotechnics, observe fire safety measures at home, and closely supervise children to prevent accidents and injuries during the holiday season.
To reinforce these reminders, PRO-NIR has heightened police visibility across the Negros Island Region through intensified foot and mobile patrols, the establishment of strategic checkpoints, and close coordination with local government units, barangay officials, and force multipliers.
PRO-NIR Regional Director Brig. Gen. Arnold Thomas Ibay emphasized the importance of public cooperation, noting that safety during the holidays is a shared responsibility.
He called on communities to remain alert, responsible, and cooperative to ensure a peaceful and joyful Yuletide celebration.
