BACOLOD City – The Police Regional Office–Negros Island Region (PRO-NIR) has intensified its community policing efforts with the launch of a 15-day Revitalized Pulis sa Barangay (R-PSB) training program aimed at enhancing grassroots law enforcement and strengthening police-community relations across the region.
The training formally opened on May 25 at the RITC Building inside Camp Alfredo M. Montelibano Sr. in Barangay Estefania, Bacolod City.
The opening ceremony was led by Lito E. Patay and other key police officials in the region.
A total of 50 police personnel from the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (NOCPPO), Negros Oriental Police Provincial Office (NORPPO), and the Regional Mobile Force Battalion (RMFB) are participating in the program.
The R-PSB program is a Philippine National Police initiative designed to bring police services closer to communities, particularly in geographically isolated and conflict-affected areas.
The program also supports the government’s broader campaign against insurgency, terrorism, and criminality through stronger community engagement and coordination with local stakeholders.
During the training, participants will undergo capability-building activities focused on community immersion, partnership-building, conflict resolution, crime prevention, and responsive public service.
Police officials said the program seeks to equip personnel with updated strategies in addressing peace and order concerns at the barangay level while strengthening collaboration among law enforcement agencies, local government units, and community leaders.
PRO-NIR said the initiative reflects its continuing commitment to professional, responsive, and community-centered policing aimed at promoting lasting peace, public safety, and public trust in communities across the Negros Island Region./PN
