BACOLOD City — Police officers across the Negros Island Region are undergoing specialized training to strengthen the protection of minors and ensure the proper handling of young individuals who come into conflict with the law.
The Police Regional Office–Negros Island Region (PRO–NIR) formally opened a five-day seminar on the handling of Children at Risk (CAR) and Children in Conflict with the Law (CICL) on March 16, at the La Carlota–Victorias Hall of the Food Terminal Market in Barangay 8 here.
The training program is led by Brig. Gen. Arnold Thomas C. Ibay, PRO–NIR regional director, who was represented during the opening ceremony by Col. Gilbert Gorero of the Regional Community Affairs and Development Section.
A total of 50 police personnel are participating in the seminar, representing various police offices across the region.
These include 16 officers from the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office, 10 from the Siquijor Police Provincial Office, 10 from the Bacolod City Police Office, 13 from the Negros Oriental Police Provincial Office, and one participant from the regional headquarters.
The seminar aims to equip personnel from the Women and Children Protection Desks (WCPD) with the knowledge, skills, and best practices needed to handle cases involving minors with greater sensitivity and professionalism./PN
