PSA to hold regional dissemination forum on 2018 CPBI

ILOILO City – The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA)-6 is set to present the results of the 2018 Census of Philippine Business and Industry (CPBI) at a regional dissemination forum slated today, Jan. 6, 2021.

Invited to attend the forum to be held at Seda Atria Hotel starting at 9:30 a.m. are representatives from the regional line agencies, local government units, members of the Regional Statistics Committee 6, stakeholders and program planners both from government and private sectors, members of the academe, and the media.

Also expected at the forum are representatives of selected establishments to be awarded for their cooperation and timely submission of complete and accurately accomplished CPBI questionnaires, PSA-6 media release said.

One of the designated statistical activities undertaken by the PSA, the 2018 CPBI aimed to collect and generate information on the performance, levels, structure and trends of economic activities of the formal sector in the entire country.

Data collected from the CPBI will constitute bases upon which the government and the private sector can formulate policies and economic development plans, according to PSA-6.

Census results will also be used in the formulation and monitoring of policies and plans; measuring and comparing national, regional and provincial economic growth; evaluating business options, assessing opportunities for new investments and estimating market shares; determining the performance and contribution of different industry sectors to the economy; and market research, industry studies and other economic analysis.

The 2018 CPBI is the 16th in the series of economic censuses conducted every six years in the Philippines. (PIA-6 Iloilo)
