ILOILO – The Iloilo Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO) is taking action to address growing concerns over a series of false child abduction reports that have recently caused unnecessary panic in local communities.
Ann Rapunzel Ganzon, PSWDO Social Welfare and Development Officer IV, confirmed that seven alleged child abduction cases have been disproven, urging parents and communities to remain calm.
The PSWDO is now focusing on offering psychosocial support to the children and families impacted by these false claims.
Ganzon emphasized the importance of open communication between parents and children and advised against making hasty judgments. She also highlighted the need to consider all factors before drawing conclusions about the children’s statements.
“We will be providing psychosocial support for both the children and their parents, offering guidance to help them understand the situation and cope with the emotional impact,” said Ganzon.
In collaboration with the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Offices (MSWDOs), the PSWDO plans to conduct community talks, offering support and helping families navigate the challenges posed by these unfounded allegations.
As concerns over child safety persist, Ganzon reminded parents to remain vigilant and responsible in protecting their children’s well-being.
