ILOILO CITY — Amid lingering fears over fuel supply due to the war in Iran, Iloilo City officials have assured the public that fuel and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) supplies will remain stable and sufficient throughout April, warning residents against panic buying that could disrupt distribution.
Mayor Raisa Treñas issued the assurance following a high-level meeting with fuel and LPG industry stakeholders, who confirmed that supply levels are adequate to meet the demands of both households and businesses in the city.
“Ginpasiguro sang aton mga stakeholders nga wala sang dapat kabalak-an sa supply, kag padayon ang ila pagserbisyo agud masiguro nga mahatagan sang nagakaigu nga panginahanglan ang aton mga panimalay kag negosyo,” the mayor said.
Despite the steady supply outlook, Treñas cautioned the public against hoarding, stressing that unnecessary bulk buying could create artificial shortages and strain distribution systems.
“Indi kinahanglan mag-hoard, kay may ara kita sang nagakaigu nga supply para sa tanan,” she added.
The city government also pledged to maintain transparency by providing regular updates on fuel and LPG supply conditions and price movements.
“Padayon kita nga magahatag sang month-on-month updates agud mapabilin nga informed ang tanan sa kahimtangan sang supply kag presyo,” Treñas said.
Treñas emphasized that the local government is in close coordination with energy sector partners to ensure continued stability, especially as national and global energy concerns persist.
