PVO issues Certificates of Compliance for 36 poultry farms

The Provincial Veterinary Office (PVO) in Negros Occidental has recently issued Certificates of Compliance to 36 different poultry farms in the province.

In a radio interview PVO head Dr. Renante Decena, said the 36 poultry farms were previously the same establishments that were subject to complaints from residents as they were blamed for causing an infestation of flies, which places the health of the locals at risk.

According to Decena, they were implementing their biosecurity program through their Provincial Fly Control Team. The team is responsible for inspecting the local poultry farms which were conducted last August and September.

After the poultry farms complied with the program and effectively stopped the fly infestation, they were immediately given the certification.

Those who fail, meanwhile, are repeatedly visited by the PVO team until they finally comply with the program and control their infestation.

Following the success of the program, Provincial Administrator Atty. Rayfrando Diaz said the conflict between residents, resorts, and cafe owners against the poultry farmers has now been resolved thanks to the PVO’s solution./PN
