MANILA – President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. is planning to conduct a “quarterly” performance review in government as part of his efforts to recalibrate his administration.
The Chief Executive told this to the media in an ambush interview on Tuesday as he clarified that there is no Cabinet revamp since the latest move is “not a one-shot, one-time, big-time thing.”
“You know, I have to explain that it’s not a Cabinet revamp. What we really did was we are still in the process of examining. Now, nasa baba na tayo. What happened really here was that I put everyone on notice that you are all basically on probation,” he said.
He added: “It is an ongoing thing. This is essentially putting all government agencies and departments on notice; that we have to do better. We will be looking very, very closely and we will make that review on a periodic basis. Maybe a quarterly basis.”
The President stated that all government undersecretaries are now under performance review, saying that the performance evaluation will be “more rigorous,” covering not just government officials.
“Titignan natin. ‘Yung mga target ba natin, nakuha ba natin on a quarterly basis? And we’ll be much, much more rigorous in looking at the performance, not only at the top level, but all the way,” Marcos said.
The President added that the public can expect “more changes in the future.”
President Marcos has ordered Cabinet secretaries, heads of agencies with Cabinet rank, other heads of agencies, and presidential advisers and assistants to resign from their respective posts, following the 2025 midterm elections to recalibrate his administration’s priorities and services./PN
