MANILA – All the case proceedings against Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC) leader Pastor Apollo Quiboloy will be fair, according to President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. on Monday.
The controversial pastor should not worry about the possibility of the United States meddling in his cases, the Chief Executive also said in an interview in Bacolod City.
“Ang maipapangako ko, all the proceedings will be fair,” President Marcos said. “No, as to the involvement of the United States. Malayo pa ‘yan, eh. That’s going to take years.”
The President said US involvement is something that Quiboloy needed not worry about.
“We will exercise all the compassion to Pastor Quiboloy,” said Marcos.
The President laughed off Quiboloy’s demand for him to issue a “written guarantee” that the “US government will not interfere” with his cases.
“’It seems to me a little bit tail-wagging na siya magbibigay ng kondisyon sa gobyerno doon sa kaso na akusado siya, sa warrant of arrest,” said President Marcos.
Meanwhile, Department of Justice (DOJ) Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla, for his part, said Quiboloy could not impose any conditions on his surrender.
“Quiboloy cannot impose any conditions. He must surrender not according to his terms but according to the terms of the law. The law applies to all, without exception,” Remulla said.
He added: “The charges against Quiboloy are not simple. They involve serious and morally abhorrent offenses such as sexual assault of a minor and human trafficking.”
Quiboloy is facing charges under Section 5(b) and Section 10(a) of Republic Act 7610 or the Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation, and Discrimination Act before a Davao court.
Remulla also said that another warrant of arrest is expected to be issued against Quiboloy from the Pasig City Regional Trial Court in relation to human trafficking./PN
