ILOILO City – A man who got arrested for three counts of rape managed to escape from the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) office in Mandurriao district.
The 40-year-old Aldren Balintong of Barangay Cadagmayan Norte, Sta. Barabara, Iloilo was apprehended Friday in Barangay Ban-ag, Sta Barbara, Iloilo.
According to CIDG-Iloilo chief Police Major James Dogao, the suspect asked permission to use the comfort room but minutes after, the suspect did not come out.
When the police checked, the suspect was not inside the comfort room and the window was already opened.
“While our personnel were interrogating him, he asked permission to go to the comfort room and he was also permitted. May balak pala siya na mag escape,” said Dogao in a telephone interview.
Balintong whose both hands were handcuffed, passed through the open window of the comfort room then escaped through to the roof and jumped off near the Mandurriao gym.
The suspect was seen riding on a tricycle going to Barangay Calajunan, Mandurriao.
The suspect was wearing green jersey short with a mole on the right lower of his lip, and orange shirt.
“We are asking the help of the community na kung makita nila itong tao na naka posas please informed us para mahuli natin ulit,” said Dogao.
They arrested the suspect on the strength an arrest warrant around 12 p.m. on Friday.
The CIDG personnel brought the suspect to the court to return his arrest warrant then they brought to their office in Mandurriao.
The two CIDG personnel were already relieved and will be facing administrative charges while manhunt operation is being conducted against the suspect./PN
