ILOILO — Police operatives arrested Western Visayas’ No. 4 most wanted person in Leon, Iloilo.
The Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6), in a report on January 9, said that alias “Toto,” a 55-year-old farmer, was caught on the morning of January 8 on Capalla Avenue, Barangay Poblacion following a comprehensive manhunt.
The suspect is facing charges for five counts of statutory rape, based on the warrant of arrest signed and issued by the Regional Trial Court – Branch 5 in Iloilo City.
The suspect is now in police custody. No bail was recommended for his temporary freedom.
“The arrest of Toto serves as a vital step in our mission to protect the vulnerable members of our society and to bring perpetrators to justice. We will not rest until all those who exploit and harm children are held accountable,” said PRO-6 director Brigadier General Josefino Ligan.
PRO-6 continues to call on the public to remain cooperative and to use established channels for whistleblowing to help combat crime in the region.
It urged anyone with further information related to similar crimes to come forward, stressing the role of community support in fostering a safe and secure environment for all./PN
