BACOLOD City — Police Regional Office-Negros Island Region (PRO-NIR) recorded nearly 496,000 law enforcement operations during the first month of Regional Director PBGen. Rudecindo L. Reales, who is pushing a back-to-basics approach focused on crime prevention, case resolution and community-centered policing.
From September 7 to October 7, 2026, PRO-NIR conducted 495,840 law enforcement operations as part of intensified efforts to prevent criminal activities, enforce the law and maintain public safety across Negros Island.
Since assuming the post, Reales has directed police units to strengthen police visibility, act on validated information, respond promptly to reported incidents and ensure that enforcement actions remain lawful and respectful of citizens’ rights.
The campaign against wanted persons resulted in the arrest of 59 most wanted persons and 252 other wanted individuals in 311 operations.
In its anti-illegal drugs campaign, PRO-NIR conducted 226 operations, arresting 246 individuals and confiscating 3,981.46 grams of shabu and 150.4 grams of marijuana with a combined standard drug price of P27.09 million.
Police also conducted 109 operations against illegal cigarette smuggling, resulting in six arrests and the seizure of smuggled cigarettes valued at P11.21 million.
Meanwhile, 103 operations against loose firearms, including the implementation of seven search warrants, led to the arrest of 25 individuals and the confiscation of 45 firearms. Another 75 firearms were voluntarily surrendered.
The campaign against illegal gambling yielded 110 operations, resulting in the arrest of 240 individuals and the confiscation of P35,044 in bet money.
Enforcement of local ordinances accounted for a substantial portion of police activities, with 494,981 operations resulting in 959,227 individuals warned and 522,382 individuals fined for various violations.
Reales said the accomplishments should not be viewed merely as statistics but as indicators of police presence and service delivery in communities.
“Our policing is simple: go back to the basics and carry them out with discipline and purpose. Be present. Respond promptly. Prevent crime. Solve cases. Protect the people. Every police officer must serve with integrity and accountability,” he said.
He emphasized that police officers must remain visible, accessible, disciplined and responsive to the needs of the communities they serve.
Reales also directed police units to build on their accomplishments, identify operational gaps and sustain efforts to address public safety concerns.
Under his leadership, PRO-NIR aims to strengthen police-community relations and bring police services closer to residents through the Philippine National Police’s thrust, “Bagong PNP para sa Bagong Pilipinas: Serbisyong Mabilis, Tapat, at Nararamdaman.”
The regional police office said its goal is to prevent and solve crimes, uphold the rule of law and ensure that residents across Negros Island feel safer and better protected./PN
