Rebel suspect nabbed in Toboso

BACOLOD City – A suspected New People’s Army (NPA) rebel was caught in a joint operation by the municipal police and the Philippine Army’s 79th Infantry Battalion on Tuesday in Barangay San Jose, Toboso in Negros Occidental.

Police identified the arrested as Benny Alibutdan of Sitio Sto. Niño in the said barangay.

Alibutdan is allegedly the vice chair of the Kilusang Magbubukid ng Pilipinas and a member of the NPA’s Northern Negros Fron, based on information released by the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office.

Alibutdan was served with an arrest warrant for homicide issued by the Silay City Regional Trial Court Branch 40, dated March 22, 2022, with a bail of P120,000. (Watchmen Daily Journal)
