Village councilman’s son nabbed for drugs

ILOILO City – A son of a village councilman was arrested in Barangay Camangay, Leganes, Iloilo for shabu.

The 30-year-old Alvin Dela Cruz of Barangay Bo. Obrero, Lapuz, Iloilo City was taken to the Leganes Police Station after a buy-bust operation around 9:25 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 10.

He faces charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 (Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002).

According to Police Executive Master Sergeant Benjie Concepcion, it took two months of monitoring before the suspect was arrested for selling a sachet of shabu worth P2,500 to a police poseur-buyer.

Two more big sachets of the illegal substance valued at P70,000 were recovered.

β€œHis buyers were truck drivers and helpers. He got his items from Iloilo City based on our intelligence monitoring,” Concepcion added.

The suspect, a construction worker, is the son of incumbent village councilman Allan Dela Cruz of Barangay Bo. Obrero./PN
