SAN JOSE, Antique – Heads up, private sector employers. Have you given your employees their 13th month pay in 2016?
You must submit a compliance report to the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE).
The deadline is on Jan. 15, according to Provincial Director Lorraine Villegas.
Last year the DOLE issued Labor Advisory No. 17, which called on private sector employers to give their workers 13th month pay.
Rank-and-file employees are entitled such privilege regardless of their position, designation or employment status, and irrespective of the method by which their wages are paid, provided that they have worked for at least one month during the calendar year, the Labor advisory stated.
The 13th-month pay is one-twelfth of an employee’s basic salary.
All private sector employers are mandated to submit a compliance report, said Donna Baldonado, information officer for DOLE-Antique.
Compliance officers are making rounds in the province to check on compliance with the Labor advisory, Villegas said. (PIA/PN)
