KALIBO, Aklan – A 23-year-old fitness gym buff was declared the first Kalibo Ati-Atihan Men’s Physique champion.
John Ryan Abello outclassed nine other gym representatives to take home the physical fitness title and the P10,000 grand prize.
The 5-feet-6 lad from Tangalan town regularly works out at Super Fit Gym in this capital town.
Ritchie Serafica, 36, from Fitness Fuze, won second place and got P8,000, while Jose Manuel Tampos, 27, from Flex Fit Gym Tangalan was third and took P5,000.
Rodelon Talco, Dax Espinosa, Ryan Tugna, and Stephen Joseph Guevarra of Super Fit Gym, and Joshua Diwa, Antonio Samboang Jr. and Reynan Asdolo of Platinum Powerhouse Gym also joined the competition on Jan. 6.
Non-winners received P1,000 and a certificate each.
All participants were given an Ensayo Sando, Thermoxyn Fat Burner and a bottle of Ensayo Amino Tablets from Ensayo Gym Equipment.
The champion got an Ensayo Leather Belt, Stainless Protein Shaker and sash.
Kalibo Ati-Atihan Men’s Physique competition was a side event of the 2017 Mutya it Kalibo Ati-Atihan coronation night.
Judges included Muay Thai fitness trainer and coach Jojo Unating; three-time Mr. Iloilo Body Building and Physique competition (2014–2016) and the reigning Mr. Philippines Body Building and Physique champion Sherwin Sy; and three-time Mr. Filipino-Chinese Bodybuilding Champion and powerlifting national record-holder Nicky Tsai.
