ILOILO City – A service crew of a fast-food restaurant in Barangay Luna, La Paz district faces a charge for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
A sachet of shabu was recovered from 29-year-old Alvin Estrecho of Barangay San Nicolas, La Paz while working inside Gaisano City.
The assistant manager of the restaurant, Romeo Bernardo, discovered the shabu around 7 p.m. on Jan. 6, according to Senior Inspector Rey Sumagaysay, La Paz police chief.
Bernardo, however, reported the matter to the La Paz police station only on Jan. 8 and turned over the sachet so Estrecho was not apprehended, said Sumagaysay.
The suspect, however, could still be charged, stressed the police chief.
Bernardo told the police he observed that Estrecho appeared not focused in work so he did some probing.
At Jollibee’s “crew room” Bernardo confronted Estrecho and there he found shabu in the suspect’s possession, said Sumagyasay.
“We could have arrested the suspect right away had we been informed. But a complaint could still be filed. The assistant manager could stand as complainant,” according to the police chief.
As of this writing, Estrecho’s whereabouts were unknown.
Sumagaysay said Estrecho was not in the La Paz police station’s list of suspected drug personalities.
