Retire policeman dead in motorcycle collision

ILOILO – A motorcycle-riding retired police officer died after he was struck by another motorcycle along the national highway in Barangay Libo-o, Dingle town at around 6:20 p.m. on Wednesday, April 29.

The 56-year-old victim, identified by the alias “Marlon,” a resident of the said barangay, was declared dead on arrival at the Iloilo Provincial Hospital in Pototan due to a severe head injury.

According to Police Captain Alwin Salmon, officer-in-charge of the Dingle Municipal Police Station (MPS), the victim was driving his motorcycle and was on his way home when the incident occurred. The collision, Salmon said, happened as the victim was attempting to make a turn and was hit by an oncoming motorcycle driven by the 40-year-old alias “Jenel,” a resident of Barangay Guinacas, Pototan.

Both drivers were rushed to the hospital. While the retired cop succumbed to his injury, Jenel remained under medical treatment as of press time.
