Revolver seized in ‘saturation drive’

ILOILO City – For violation of the election gun ban, a 38-year-old man had been detained.

Ian Besenio yielded a .38 revolver, a police report showed.

Officers conducting “saturation drive” arrested and hauled him to the custodial facility of the police station in Pontevedra, Capiz.

A resident of Barangay Ilawod, Pontevedra, Besenio was standing along the road in Barangay Los-unan, Panay, Capiz on Monday night with brother Anecito, 34, when caught.

The Pontevedra police took him to their station at around 9:30 p.m.

In view of the upcoming synchronized barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections, the Commission on Elections prohibited the bringing of firearms and deadly weapons.

All permits to carry firearms outside of residence were suspended, and only law enforcers on duty and in proper uniform and those granted exemptions will be allowed to carry guns./PN
