Filipino lightweight prospect John Vincent Moralde hopes to showcase a brilliant performance versus Mexican Alexis del Bosque at the MGM Grand’s Conference Center in Las Vegas, Nevada, United States this morning.
Moralde – coming off an impressive knockout triumph against Chilean Matias Arriagada late last year – said beating Bosque will boost the former’s chances for the world title.
“This is an important fight at this stage of my career. I don’t want to spoil the chance. I want to bring home another win,” the Sanman Boxing Promotions standout told the Buzzer Beater.
He added: “I have been grinding in the gym all this time. Thanks to my team for giving me this opportunity. I am so lucky to book a fight in the midst of this (coronavirus disease 2019) crisis.”
Moralde, the third Filipino from the Sanman stable to see closed door action, will be entering the entering the clash with a 23-3-0 (13 KOs) win-loss-draw record while Bosque has a 17-5-0 (9 KOs) card.
Filipino boxer Mark John Yap, meanwhile, lost his non-title clash chance versus Miguel Marriaga after entering the weigh-in session eight lbs. overweight. He could also face sanctions due to it.

Guimarasnon woodpusher Fritz Bryan Porras emerged as champion of the Online Open Chess Tournament for a Cause which was held on Lichess online chess application.
The Buenavista, Guimaras-native topped the nine-round chess event that was joined by 27 others. He got the P500 champion prize.
Noel Vincent Crucero of Mina, Iloilo, on the other hand, got P300 for finishing as the runner-up while Davao’s James Infiesto ended up with P100 for the third place performance.
Meanwhile, Checy Aliena Telesforo of San Joaquin, Iloilo was hailed as the best female finisher of the tournament. She earned the P100 prize.
The online chess tournament took stage for the family of fallen Ilonggo chess player NM Ernesto “Botitoy” Jayme. The registration fee along with the cash prizes of the winners were donated to them.
