MANILA – President Rodrigo Duterte lashed out anew at Sen. Antonio “Sonny” Trillanes IV, calling him a “barking dog.”
“Look at this idiot. Nagpa-muti-mutiny, ‘yun palang kaduwagan niya pagdating ng pulis nag-surrender,” Duterte said at his meeting with the Filipino community in the Republic of the Union of Myanmar.
The President accused the former Navy official of stealing towels, bed sheets, and utensils at the Manila Peninsula Hotel, Makati in 2007.
“At hindi naman umabot ng barilan maski isang putok. I cannot picker for… Kayo ba? Nakita naman niyo ang behavior medyo ano, pareho kay (Sen. Leila) de Lima,” he added.
In the same speech, Duterte also criticized the detained senator for considering herself a “political prisoner” under the Duterte administration.
De Lima is currently detained at the Philippine National Police’s Custodial Center for drug trafficking charges.
“Sabihin niya political prisoner daw siya. Since when? Since when ako nagpakulong ng oposisyon diyan? Siya ‘yang may… nagpa-video, nakita na ba ninyo ‘yun? O siya ‘yung nag… because ‘yan ang pinaka-tragedy natin,” the chief executive said.
The former mayor of Davao City also accused de Lima of running a drug operation.
“It was the (then) secretary of Justice herself running, trafficking drugs. Kaya sabi maraming patay. Totoo ‘yan. I am not trying to deny that in the work,” he said.
“In Davao I said, ‘Do not destroy my city’. We were struggling then because Davao City was a no-man’s island. At alas syete pa ng gabi, kung may taga-Davao dito, they or she or he would tell you alas syete sarado na doon.”/PN
