MANILA – Farm Fresh Foxies entered the PVL 2nd All-Filipino Conference win-column with a 25-23, 25-21, 25-14 upset over Akari Power Chargers over the weekend at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig City.

Louie Romero showcased her effective playmaking to finish with 19 excellent sets to go with five points as the Foxies halted their three-game losing skid to improve to a 1-3 win-loss slate.

Romero, who recovered from an undisclosed injury earlier this week, credited the Foxies’ coaching staff for helping the team adjust and deliver a breakthrough performance.

“This week was extremely tough for me,” Romero said in a post-game interview. “I missed two days (of practice) due to injury, but the coaching staff made significant adjustments to help us get this win.”

“I just focused on playing my game, and it showed, but there’s still a lot to improve. We studied their game carefully, learning how to neutralize their key players,” added the former Adamson University Lady Falcons setter.

Trisha Tubu emerged as the top scorer for the Foxies with 21 points, while Negrenses Alyssa Bertolano and Maicah Larroza as well as Rizza Cruz, Caitlyn Viray and Aprylle Tagsip also made notable contributions offensively.

Ivy Lacsina led the Power Chargers with 13 points, Negrense Christine Joy Soyud struggled with eight markers, while Mereophe Sharma ended with six points as they dropped to a 2-2 card.

Meanwhile, Capital1 Solar Energy Solar Spikers recovered from a set down to defeat NxLed Chameleons, 21-25, 25-21, 25-15, 25-18, and record their first win of the conference.
