ILOILO City – A police officer of the Regional Anti-Illegal Drugs Task Force faces a homicide charge.
Police Officer 1 John Patrick Lozada shot a customer of a convenience store in Barangay Magdalo, La Paz district late Monday night.
Responding cops from the La Paz police station arrested Lozada, 32.
The victim, Roger Tingson of Barangay San Nicholas, La Paz, was taken to the West Visayas State University Medical Center. A bullet hit his armpit.
The shooting happened around 11 p.m., according to Senior Inspector Rey Sumagaysay, La Paz police chief.
Tingson accidentally bumped into Lozada who was with two women. The policeman got mad and fired his .9mm pistol several times, said Sumagaysay.
Responding La Paz policemen recovered from the crime scene five empty bullet shells of a .9mm pistol and two deformed slugs.
Lozada, a resident of Barangay Camalig, Jaro district, peacefully went with the policemen to the La Paz police station. His gun would be subjected to a ballistics examination./PN
