ROXAS City – This component city bagged three awards during the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Region 6’s 6th Regional Cities and Municipalities Competitiveness Index (CMCI) Awards for Competitive LGU (local government unit).
These were for Most Improved LGU (Component City) – 2nd place (rank 10 out of 113 component city LGU’s in the Philippines); Infrastructure Pillar – 2nd place (rank 47 out of 113 component city LGU’s in the Philippines ); and Innovation Pillar – 2nd place (rank 30 out of 113 component city LGU’s in the Philippines).
CMCI is an annual ranking of Philippine cities and municipalities developed by the National Competitiveness Council through the Regional Competitiveness Committees (RCCs) with the assistance of the United States Agency for International Development.
This year’s theme is “Revitalizing Regional Competitiveness”.
Cities and municipalities are ranked on their competitiveness based on an overall competitiveness score. The overall competitiveness score is the sum of scores on five main pillars which pool data from several sub-indicators.
The five main pillars are economic dynamism, government efficiency, infrastructure, resiliency, and innovation.
The CMCI Awards in Region 6 was held last week at the Park Inn by Radisson in Iloilo City and was led by OIC Assistant Regional Director Judith L. Degala, who presented DTI OIC Regional Director Ermelinda P. Pollentes and Executive Director of Competitiveness Bureau Lilian G. Salonga.
Mayor Ronnie Dadivas received the awards and was joined by other city officials, namely Vice Mayor Teresa Almalbis, Councilor Pip Acepcion, city administrator Love Usison, city legal officer Antonio Bisnar, and DTI-Capiz’s Juvy Benliro./PN
