ROXAS City – The city government plans a city-wide implementation of the QR (Quick Response) code system for a more efficient tracing of close contacts of confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
According to Roxas City Communication Group (RCCG) head Melvin Galagate, the Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP) will be passing an ordinance requiring residents to have QR codes and enjoining all establishments to comply with this system, too.
“Ginatun-an sang aton city council ang mga legal procedures and possible impediments for this,” said Galagate.
With the QR code system, filling out forms when entering city hall and establishments for contract tracing reference will no longer be required.
Having this technology means less person-to-person contact, less risk of infection, and it will be easier for the city government to monitor the movement of the individuals here, especially those who are on quarantine, a suspected case, or a COVID-19 positive.
At present, the QR system is only being enforced at city hall.
Galagate said the enrollment at the DiRECTS QR Code system is ongoing at city hall for those transacting at various city government offices.
The Roxas City Information Communication and Technology Team is spearheading the enrollment/registration.
But Galagate added that any walk-in residents who want to have QR codes this early are also welcome to register./PN
