Roxas village chief shot to death

Task group formed to investigate shooting

ROXAS City – The Capiz Police Provincial Office (CPPO) formed a special investigation task group to look into the death of Barangay Lawaan village chief Elvis Asis.

CPPO director Superintendent Samuel Nacion assigned Superintendent Dante Tayco, chief of the Roxas City police station, to head the special task group during a police conference on Saturday.

Asis was gunned down while he was on board a motorcycle that Otel Casela was driving at around 8 p.m. on Friday.

They were on their way to a fiesta in Sitio Patag in Barangay Lawaan that time, police said.

Asis sustained three gunshot wounds on the different parts of the body and was pronounced dead a few hours after he was brought to the Capiz Doctors Hospital.

Casela sustained a gunshot wound on the arm and was currently under treatment at a hospital, police said.

The gunmen were also riding a motorcycle when they fired at Asis and Casela, added the police. They were still unidentified as of this writing.

β€œThe killing was well-planned. We are looking at three possible motives which we cannot disclose yet,” Tayco told Panay News.

He added that the task group will gather witnesses and ask closed circuit camera television footages from establishments near the area where the shooting happened.

These will help them identify the suspects, Tayco added./PN
