BACOLOD City – A sugarcane farmworker died after he was repeatedly hacked by a fellow sacada at their sleeping quarters in Hacienda Pilar, Barangay Alicante, EB Magalona, Negros Occidental.
The 35-year-old Michael Marcella of Barangay San Pablo, Manapla had multiple hack wounds on the head and body, according to the municipal police chief Senior Inspector Bonifacio Aral.
The 34-year-old suspect Rizan Espaldon was arrested.
Espaldon was angered on May 11 when he observed that Marcella was no longer working and kept demanding for various things from his fellow workers, investigation showed.
Marcella’s body was taken to a local mortuary. His family was set to take his remains home./PN
