MANILA – San Beda University Red Lions leaned on Donald Tankoua in the endgame to pull off a 73-66 win over Arellano University Chiefs in the NCAA Season 95 men’s basketball at the San Juan Arena.

After seeing its 11-point edge trimmed to 60-59, Tankoua took matters into his own hands on Friday night by scoring nine of the Red Lions’ last 13 markers to maintain its unblemished slate.

Tankoua finished the match with 20 points, on 9-of-14 shooting, to go along with nine rebounds, two assists and a block,

With the win, the defending champions Red Lions surged to its 11th straight win.

Ilonggo Clint Doliguez added 12 points, six boards, two assists, two steals, and two blocks while James Canlas got 11 points, three rebounds, and three assists.

“They rallied back, cutting the lead to just one, but our defense stepped up. Hopefully, this will be a wakeup call for us. Sana matuto kami sa stretch na ito,” rued Red Lions head coach Boyet Fernandez.

Justin Arana finished with double-double 23 points and 15 rebounds. Gelo Sablan added 11 points and five rebounds while Kent Salado and Jade Talampas both scored 10 as the Chiefs dropped to 2-9 card.

Meanwhile, Mapua University Cardinals pulled off a stunning 105-101 double overtime win over Colegio de San Juan de Letran Knights behind crucial baskets from Cyril Gonzales and Laurenz Victoria./PN
