MANILA – Carlo Caesar Peñalosa captured the WBC Asia Boxing Council Silver flyweight belt with a split-decision win over Salatiel Amit at the Puerto Princesa Coliseum in Palawan.

It was the second professional belt of the San Carlos City, Negros Occidental native, who took home the PBF light flyweight belt after defeating Vincent Bautista in August.

Peñalosa landed multiple combinations on Amit but the latter responded with hits that stunned his fellow Filipino several times on Saturday.

The Negrense managed to regain his strength in the latter rounds as he went at it with left and right combinations to escape with a split-decision verdict from three judges.

Peñalosa improved 10-1-0 with three knockout wins while Amit fell to 10-4-2 with seven stoppage victories.

Meanwhile Jelbirt Gomera bagged the OPBF interim featherweight title after knocking out Venezuelan Omrri Bolivar in the co-main event of the bout.

Gomera, a native of Tacurong, Sultan Kudarat, improved to 13-4-0 with seven stoppage wins while Bolivar suffered his first loss and slid to 5-1-0./PN
