San Jose has highest COVID vaccination rate in Antique

ANTIQUE – Among the 18 municipalities here, San Jose de Buenavista has the highest population rate of vaccination against coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) – 89 percent as of Jan. 4. This is equivalent to 41,208 individuals.

San Jose’s target population for vaccination is 46,463.

San Jose is a first-class municipality and capital of Antique. According to the 2020 census, it has a population of 65,140 people, making it the most populous municipality in Antique.

Province-wide so far, 214,105 Antiqueños are deemed fully vaccinated against COVID-19 – this is 50 percent of the provincial government’s 432,452 target population.

According to Provincial Health Officer Dr. Lencio Abiera, the Antique Provincial Health Office (APHO) will be more aggressive this year in campaigning for COVID-19 vaccination.

The vaccination slowed down in the last two weeks of December 2021 due to super typhoon “Odette”.

Data from the APHO showed 165,863 individuals from the 432,452 target population remain unvaccinated./PN
