“SAVING Grace,” the Philippine adaptation of the hit Japanese drama “Mother,” made a good impression on critics, as it received two nominations at the 2025 Seoul International Drama Awards.
The Julia Montes-Sharon Cuneta starrer was nominated for Best Series and Best Screenwriter for Danica Domingo, as announced in a release on the awards ceremony’s website.
For the Best Series category, “Saving Grace” will be up against “D.I.D. 12” (Hong Kong), “Emerald Hill: The Little Nyonya Story” (Singapore), “For Eagle Brothers” (South Korea), “She’s the One” (Brazil), “The Beach season two” (Greece), “The Good & The Bad” (Turkiye), and “The Nightfall” (Turkiye).
The drama will compete against Dan Erickson for “The Severance,” Emmanuel Carrere for “Beyond the Grave, a New Adamsberg’s Case,” Jan Schomburg for “Other People’s Money,” Jose Rivera for “One Hundred Years of Solitude,” Katie Robbins for “Sunny,” Lim Sang-choon for “When Life Gives You Tangerines,” Hugh Soo for “Pachinko,” and Stephen Graham for “Adolescence.”
The drama tells the story of Anna (Montes), who “kidnaps” her student Grace (Grace), after discovering that she was being physically and mentally abused by her unstable mother and her partner.
Meawhile, another Filipino who was recognized at the South Korea-based awards ceremony is Daniel Padilla, who was named one of the recipients of the Outstanding Asian Star plum.
