BACOLOD City – The Tinongan National High School shall be called the Patrick Arroyo Montilla Jr. National High School, as stated in the Deed of Donation of the school’s new site in Hacienda San Bonifacio, Barangay Tinongan, Isabela, Negros Occidental.
The groundbreaking will be on Sept. 6. It will be attended by Rep. Robert Barbers (Surigao del Norte, 2nd District) and Isabela Councilor Patrick Montilla, who donated the 9,973-square-meter lot.
Principal Suzanne Catague said the school having its own site was a “dream come true.”
For 39 years, the faculty and students of the school have been “squatting” at the Tinongan Elementary School.
“The school can now settle permanently with its own physical structures, buildings and its own identity,” said Catague.
The Department of Education allotted about P20 million for the construction of the school’s 20-classroom building, restrooms, information and communication technology laboratory, and science laboratory, among others.
Currently, the school has 493 students./PN
