SAN JOSE, Antique – A resident of Barangay Nauhon, Sebaste, Antique facing a rape charge was arrested at a mall along Quirino Highway in Novaliches, Quezon City.
The 24-year-old painter Lester Dugang was caught around 6:45 p.m. on Saturday on the strength of an arrest warrant that Judge Josefina Muego of the Regional Trial Court Branch 13 in Culasi, Antique issued on Feb. 13.
Joint elements of the Sebaste police station and the Regional Intelligence Unit 6 staged Dugang’s arrest.
Dugang was detained at the Quezon City Police District lockup facility awaiting proper disposition.
No bail bond was recommended for his temporary liberty./PN
New Washington ‘gamblers’ jailed
KALIBO, Aklan – Four persons, including a minor, were arrested for violation of Presidential Decree (PD) 1602 in Barangay Puis, New Washington, Aklan, a police report showed.
They were Jun Magno, Lemuel Lorenzo and Arnold Salvador – all residents of Barangay Puis – and a boy, the report added.
PD 1602 is a law that prescribing stiffer penalties on illegal gambling.
Officers from the New Washington police station caught the suspects playing pool around 4:15 p.m. on Sunday.
Recovered from the suspects were a pool table, a cue stick, playing cards, 13 pool chips, and gambling money worth P741, police said.

Man faces rap for violence vs women, children
KALIBO, Aklan – Charged with violence against women and children, a man was arrested in Barangay Caticlan, Malay, Aklan.
Police identified him as the 31-year-old Rowen Rubias of Barangay Dangcalan, Malinao, Aklan.
Officers from the Malinao police station caught Rubias around 4 p.m. on Sunday on the strength of an arrest warrant.
Rubias was detained at the Malinao police station lockup facility.
An P8,000 bail bond was recommended for his temporary liberty./PN
